CHILDREN'S MINISTRY
Mika Hernandez supervises our nursery, Children's Connect, and WEE Worship programs. As a mother of six sons, she understands the importance of training children in the way they should go (Prov 22:6). Having accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior when she was seven, she recognizes children's ability to receive the truth of Jesus' love and develop an appreciation for His Word. Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me... for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these,” (Lk 18:16). Mika and her husband, Paul, enjoy family and have participated in multiple mission trips.
WEE WorshipBACK TO TOP »
For children 4-5 years old, we provide WEE Worship. While parents are participating in our regular corporate worship service, children will have an opportunity to develop a love for Jesus, sing songs, learn Bible stories, and develop social skills through interactive, age-appropriate activities. We invite your pre-school children to join us in a fun and loving atmosphere. A nursery is also provided for children birth through 3 years old.
RA's BACK TO TOP »

Royal Ambassadors (RA's) is a discipleship program for boys, grades 1-8. Organized along the lines of scouting, RA's helps boys develop character, grow in relationships, learn life skills, be involved in service, and, most importantly, develop a love for Jesus Christ and His Word. We invite you to join the fun on Wednesday evenings at 6:15, following our fellowship dinner.
Our RA's leader is Jonathan Dupuis. A native of Acadiana, he is currently pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering at UL-Lafayette. His relationship with the Lord began at the age of five and continues to grow stronger daily. Besides helping boys grow into young men, his favorite things are outdoors activities and swing dancing. Whatever his career path, he wants to continue ministering to young men and doing missions work.
GA's BACK TO TOP »
Girls in Action (GA's) is a discipleship program emphasizing outreach and service. Girls, grades 1-8, learn Scripture, develop a love for Jesus, make lasting friendships, and participate in service opportunities. Join in the fun each Wednesday evening at 6:15, following our fellowship dinner.
Our GA's group is led by LaToya Jones. Originally from New Jersey, LaToya has been part of The Open Door since 2008. A graduate of UL-Lafayette, she is currently working on her Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from Liberty University. LaToya came to know Jesus in a personal way at the age of 24, after realizing He was the only answer to any situation. With a heart to serve, she strives to live her life for His kingdom.
Mission Friends BACK TO TOP »
For children 4-5 years old, we provide Mission Friends during the same time period as RA's/GA's. Mission Friends is a co-ed, age-appropriate, learning time that helps set the stage for a lifetime of experiencing the love of Jesus, learning the Scriptures, developing relationships, and helping others. If you have preschoolers, we encourage you to enroll them in Mission Friends.
